Japan supports peace efforts in South Sudan
Japan appreciated in Statement by Foreign Press Secretary ,Takeshi Osuga, agreement on the signing of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan.
In a press release issued by Japanese embassy in Khartoum said “ Japan welcomes the signing by the South Sudanese parties in Addis Ababa, capital of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, on current September 12, of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). Japan expresses its respect for all the efforts made by Sudan and other IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development) countries as well as the IGAD Secretariat to promote peace in South Sudan.”
“ Japan strongly hopes that the relevant parties will implement peacefully, by cooperating constructively and demonstrating their strong political will, the measures such as security sector reform, constitutional amendments and resolution of the issues concerning State numbers and boundaries, while observing ceasefire. It also hopes that a culture of peace and co-existence will take root deeply in South Sudan through these implementations, and that the revitalized transitional government will be established within eight months as agreed” explained the press release and continued “ Japan will continue to support, in partnership with the international community, the efforts towards peace and stability in South Sudan.
